event_narrativeThe Citrus County Emergency Management reported that a seventeen year old female was struck and severely injured by lightning while standing in a boat at a boat ramp along Halls River Road along the Homosassa River as thunderstorm activity approached. The female was severely shocked, resuscitated with CPR, and comatose after lightning struck the deck of boat inches from where the victim was standing. The lightning strike melted a rubber band holding the victims ponytail and burned a hole into the boats fuel tank.
