episode_narrativeThunderstorms developed along a nearly stationary warm frontal boundary across southern Lower Michigan during the early morning hours of Tuesday, July 21st. The most notable occurrence with these thunderstorms was the frequent lightning associated. Lightning strikes caused several major fires across Muskegon, Kent, and Ottawa Counties, causing over half a million dollars in damages. Winds gusted to 60-mph in Muskegon and wind gusts downed trees or limbs in Calhoun and Jackson Counties. No injuries were reported with any of these events.
event_narrativeLightning struck the roof of a three-bedroom home at 7836 Mooring Court in the Hidden Ridge Estate Complex in Georgetown Township at 6:10 am EDT. Most of the house was destroyed in the blaze touched off by the strike. No injuries were reported. A damage estimate was not available.
