| episode_narrative | Thunderstorms with frequent lightning caused property damage to at least four homes in Montgomery County during the morning of May 25th. By far the worst damage occurred to a home in Montgomery Township. Lightning struck the house's chimney and started a fire in the attic. There was fire and water damage to the house's attic and second floor. The family was away for the weekend. Damage was estimated at $125,000. In Hatfield Borough, a lightning strike damaged the dryer in one home and melted a hole in the gutter of a second home. In Worcester Township, lightning toppled the chimney of a two story home. Some of its masonry came down into the flue and into the family room. Other lightning strikes were reported in Cheltenham, East Greenville and Lower Providence Townships with little reported damage. About 1,700 homes lost power due to lightning strikes throughout Montgomery County. |
