episode_narrativeAdditional rounds of severe thunderstorms possessing damaging straight-line winds of 60 to 65 mph struck southcentral and southeast Wisconsin for the second time on the same day. In this episode, the severe storms extended into the early morning hours of the next day. The bulk of the damage consisted of numerous large trees pushed over by the powerful winds. Some powerlines were also toppled. In Sauk County, the winds pushed in a window of a home in La Valle. About 600 homes lost electricity due to downed powerlines. In Dane County, a Belleville home suffered damage to its soffits. In Green County, a fallen tree in Monroe crushed a pickup truck and also damaged a car. A golf country club near Monroe was closed for 6 hours on the 28th in order for work crews to clean up tree debris. In Dane County, lightning struck a home east of Cottage Grove and left some smoke damage, but there was no fire. Another lightning strike in Albion (Dane Co.) started a fire that burnt a pole shed to the ground. The fire destroyed a mobile home, 2 field tractors, a garden tractor, and tools that were in the shed. In Waukesha County, lightning struck the Elm Grove Village Hall, knocking out its 911 system and damaging office PC's. There was no fire. In Milwaukee County, lightning struck a St Francis home, resulting in an attic fire and water damage.
