| episode_narrative | Summary of events for May 9 1998:Three isolated severe thunderstorms developed across northwest Arkansas to the north of a warm front on the morning of May 9. The first storm developed just north of Eureka Springs around 815 AM CDT and moved northeast into Missouri. A second severe storm formed to the south of Berryville around 850 AM CDT and moved northeast into Missouri by 915 AM CDT. A third severe storm formed over southern Madison County and moved across Marble and Metalton. Early in the afternoon, severe storms weakened as they moved out of eastern Oklahoma but reintensified to severe levels over southern Franklin County as an upper level low and cold air aloft approached and daytime heating took place. The primary threat with any of these storms was very large hail to the size of golfballs. |
