| episode_narrative | A strong surface low was moving northeast through the Tennessee Valley on the 3rd. Rain and thunderstorms developed ahead of the low pressure area. Enough instability was in place above a cool stable layer of air over the Upstate to generate several severe thunderstorms that produced mainly large hail between dime and quarter size. Although there were two reports of golf ball size hail; one in eastern Anderson county and the other in Hickory Grove, York county where it broke windows in a house and damaged vehicles. It hailed so hard for 10 minutes between Tigerville and Lake Cunningham in Northern Greenville county that the hail remained on the ground until the following morning. The only report of wind damage was that of a large tree down in the far southeastern part of Greenwood county. Lightning struck two homes in Union causing structural damage but no fires. |
