| event_narrative | Scattered thunderstorms developed along a squall line which accompanied a cold frontal passage across northeastern Pennsylvania early in the afternoon on the 1st. Nearly continuous cloud to ground lightning was reported with the stronger cells. A commuter plane on final approach to the Wilkes-Barre Scranton International Airport was struck by lightning. The plane was able to maneuver a successful landing. However, substantial damage was incurred to some of the outer tiles near the cargo holder area. |
