| episode_narrative | Thunderstorms moved across northern Illinois during the evening hours of May 9th and early morning hours of May 10th producing severe hail. The largest hail of the event was reported in Pontiac where 2.5 inch diameter hail was reported. Another storm produced multiple reports of large hail across Kane county. 1.75 inch diameter hail was reported in St. Charles at Kirk and North Avenue and in Elgin at Route 20 and Randall. 1.25 inch hail was reported at Orchard Road and Interstate 88 in Bataiva. 1.50 inch diameter hail was reported in Lombard in Dupage county. Lightning stuck the roof of a house in Orland Park in Cook county. The lightning started a fire which caused the roof to cave in. No injuries were reported. |
