| episode_narrative | Lightning struck the roof of a vacant two story building in Bayville during the afternoon of the 19th. The ensuing fire was extinguished in about 20 minutes, but still damaged the second story of the building. As firefighters were cleaning the scene, another bolt of lightning struck the ground about 30 feet from a fire truck. It traveled to the truck and injured a firefighter who had his hand on a metal casing at the time of lightning strike. His arm went numb. Jersey Central Power and Light reported that 5,000 of its customers lost power due to the winds and lightning on the 19th in Ocean and Monmouth Counties. |
