| episode_narrative | A line of thunderstorms with frequent cloud to ground lightning caused damage in Morris County. But, no serious injuries occurred. In Roxbury Township, a silo was damaged by a lightning strike. In Boonton Township, a house struck by lightning developed warm spots in the kitchen's walls. In Denville Township, one house was struck by lightning. Firefighters prevented serious damage to the home. Elsewhere in Denville, a chimney at a Sovereign Bank branch was struck by lightning. The lightning stroke shattered bricks which fell onto the drive-through lane and damaged a car. Mainly lightning strikes caused about 20,000 GPU Energy customers to lose power across eastern Pennsylvania and northern New Jersey. Cloud-to-ground strokes averaged about 3,000 per hour as this line moved through New Jersey, Delaware and the Maryland Eastern Shore. |
