| episode_narrative | During Monday evening, June 11th, a surface trough moved east across New Jersey, propelled by a potent disturbance in the middle and upper levels of the atmosphere. This triggered clusters of strong to locally severe thunderstorms across portions of northern New Jersey. Damaging winds downed trees and power lines across portions of northern New Jersey, and heavy rains caused areas of flooding on roadways and in low-lying areas. Numerous cloud to ground lightning strikes also accompanied these thunderstorms. In Union County, lightning struck a chimney on a house in Elizabeth, causing an unknown amount of property damage. |
