event_narrativeA 22-year old Shippensburg University man was injured slightly when he was struck by a 4-foot piece of wood that was blown out of a tree by lightning. The young man was in the process of retrieving garbage cans that were being blown by the wind. As he hurried to return to his house, lightning struck a nearby tree, sending debris flying. One piece of wood knocked him to the ground just inside the door to his home. The young man related difficulty hearing for about 30 minutes due to the blast, and complained of lower back pain.
