episode_narrativeA bolt of lightning hit close to the municipal building in Florham Park. The subsequent power surge blew out the borough's emergency generator, the phone system, the 911 phones, electrical power and the primary communications for the police and the Department of Public Works. The emergency 911 calls were routed to Madison Borough. The lightning also severed three main power cables located in front of the municipal building. Power was not restored until 11 p.m. EDT. Among the electronic equipment damaged by the lightning were the borough's fifteen signalized traffic intersections. No serious injuries were reported.
