| episode_narrative | A fairly strong cold front worked across eastern New York late on August 3. A humid, unstable airmass was ahead of this cold front. This scenario resulted in numerous thunderstorms developing ahead of the front during the midday hours. These thunderstorms produced dime size hail at Troy in Rensselaer county and Stillwater in Saratoga county. The rest of the reports were of wind damge. Trees and wires were blown down near the Turf Inn on Wolf Road in Colonie, Albany county. Trees and wires were blown down at Coveville, Clifton Park and Saratoga Springs, in Saratoga county. In Rensselaer county, numerous trees were reported down in Nassau and East Greenbush. Trees and wires were also downed at Castleton-on-Hudson. Also, wind damaged a cross atop St. Joseph's Church in South Troy. A man was struck by lightning at the Earlton Hill Campgrounds on Medway-Earlton Road in Coxsackie, Green county. He was knocked down and stunned as the bolt first struck his camper, then struck him. Ambulance rushed the victim to Albany Medical Center where the he was treated and released. Lightning also struck a tree, which then set a nearby barn on fire, in the town of Niverville, Columbia county. Fire gutted the old wooden structure. |
