| episode_narrative | A severe thunderstorm caused wind damage in opposite sides of Carbon County, hitting the northwest and southeast parts of the county the hardest. Two houses in the northwest part of the county, one in Weatherly Borough and the other in Packer Township were struck by lightning. The ensuing fires did minor damage. The severe thunderstorm downed trees in Weatherly Borough, Palmerton Borough and Lower Towamensing Township. The storm also tore to shreds the taco stand at the East Penn Township Recreation Community Carnival. The worst damage occurred in Lower Towamensing Township when the storm destroyed three 100-year-old (3.5 feet in diameter) tulip trees along Hemlock Street. A shed that housed two steers was hurled 30 feet. Two houses suffered wind damage: one had stripping along the side of its roof torn, the other lost its chimney and had its roof punctured by the downed tulip tree. |
