| episode_narrative | A mesoscale convective system crossed western North Carolina during the morning. Thunderstorms along the leading edge produced winds reported as high as 94 mph in Candler. These winds picked up and a vacant mobile home and blew it into an occupied mobile home, destroying both. There were no injuries. Trees were also blown down. More than an hour later the thunderstorms reintensified and became severe over the foothills and western piedmont. Trees and power lines were downed in a few spots, including across and along Highways 70, 64 and Interstate 77 in Iredell county. One thousand people were left without power in Statesville. Lightning struck a furniture store in Taylorsville, causing some damage. |
