In addition to being prolific cloud-to-ground lightning producers, a few thunderstorms also became severe.
Event narrativeevent_narrativeLightning strikes across Northampton County caused damage to a few structures. In Bethlehem Township, a house burst into flames after lightning struck a chimney and traveled downward to the gas fireplace. Four fire companies battled the blaze. A firefighter was unhurt after he fell through a ceiling. In Wilson Borough, lightning struck and obliterated a chimney. The debris damaged a minivan parked on Lehigh Street. In Palmer Township, a lightning strike damaged a shed. No serious injuries were reported.
