Episode narrativeepisode_narrative	Hot temperatures, combined with dewpoints near 70 degrees, led to the development of scattered strong thunderstorms across southern Kentucky during the afternoon and early evening hours of September 11th. Some of these storms produced up to 2 inches of rain across Simpson County. A lightning strike injured 5 people. A couple of storms became severe, producing damaging winds.
Event narrativeevent_narrative	Broadcast media reported 5 injuries from a lightning strike that ended the afternoon racing card at the Kentucky Downs racetrack. Lightning hit a tin pole and traveled down to the ground, shocking 5 people sheltering within a tent. One was transported to a hospital. The racing board was shorted out with racing cancelled for the rest of the afternoon.
