A weak surface boundary was stretched from Northeast Arkansas into North Mississippi. A few thunderstorms developed along this boundary in Northeast Arkansas during the late afternoon and eventually formed a mesoscale convective system that traveled southeast across the Memphis Metropolitan area into Northwest Mississippi.
