About 2,200 Jersey Central Power and Light customers lost power that evening, the majority were in Warren County.
Event narrativeevent_narrativeA lightning strike and ensuing fire destroyed a home and left a family homeless on Brahma Avenue in Bridgewater Township. Lightning struck the home's electrical system and sparked a fire. There was heavy fire damage on the second floor and smoke and water damage throughout the house. Three fire companies took about thirty minutes to extinguish the blaze. No serious injuries were reported.
