Episode narrativeepisode_narrativeScattered showers and thunderstorms developed across the region as an upper level trough and associated surface cold front approached the area from the northwest. Strong heating and high moisture content resulted in a moderately unstable air mass and with the increased low level forcing, as well as increasing upper level dynamics, several of the storms became strong to severe, producing some isolated wind damage. Also, frequent lightning also resulted in a couple of fires, one which completely destroyed a home.
Event narrativeevent_narrativeA lightning strike struck a home and caused a fire. The former plantation home, which is actually listed on the National Register of Historic Places, was completely destroyed, with only its three chimneys still standing. Damages were estimated.
