Episode narrativeepisode_narrativeScattered strong to severe thunderstorms developed along a sea breeze front and also ahead of an approaching cold front, producing pockets of very heavy rain and some wind damage across parts of New Jersey, eastern Pennsylvania, and Delaware during the afternoon and evening of the 22nd. One of the hardest hit areas was Cumberland and Salem Counties where power was out in some locations until the 24th. Atlantic City Electric reported that roughly 16,000 of its customers lost power at the height of the storm.
Event narrativeevent_narrativeLightning from a thunderstorm struck and injured a person at Fort Hancock at 2:30 pm EDT on the 22nd. Lightning struck ten other buildings at the Gateway National Recreational Area at Sandy Hook, but no serious damage was reported.
