Despite a large ridge over the central and southern plains, a weak upper disturbance combined with strong instability led to a few pulse type storms. These storms contained gusty winds and very heavy rain along with frequent lightning.
Event narrativeevent_narrativeA brief thunderstorm impacted Ada, Oklahoma just before midnight. No structural damage was reported, but one fatality occurred when a man was struck by lightning in the driveway of his home.
