Episode narrativeepisode_narrativeAfter an extended period of dry conditions, a widespread thunderstorm event during the afternoon and early evening hours brought welcome rain to the area, but unfortunately a number of severe thunderstorms as well. The thunderstorms were fueled by a stationary front lying across central Georgia combined with a short wave in northwest flow aloft as a large trough developed across the eastern U.S. Most of the events were characterized by marginal severe thunderstorm wind and hail events.
Event narrativeevent_narrativeThe Spalding County 911 Center reported that lightning strikes caused a couple of power lines to fall down.
