Episode narrativeepisode_narrativeDiurnal convection intensified in bands across north Florida and the Carolinas ahead of a strong surface low in Alabama. This low was the direct remnant of Tropical Storm Lee. Mesoscale boundaries and the sea breeze enhanced thunderstorms which raced northward and formed some bowing segments which produced wind damage in southeast Georgia and southern South Carolina.
Event narrativeevent_narrativeA lightning strike resulted in 24 soldiers and one civilian being taken to Winn Army Community Hospital in Hinesville, Georgia. The lightning strike occurred during a training exercise in Fort Stewart, Georgia. No one was injured seriously, although four people were kept overnight for observation. All individuals were released the day after the lightning strike and all soldiers were returned to active duty.
