| Event narrativeevent_narrative | Lightning struck a 75 year old, 6 foot diameter, 80 foot tall oak tree in the 700 block of East Court Street in Rocky Mount. Portions of the tree, up to five feet long, were shattered off the tree and blown up to 30 feet away. The lightning strike also caused electrical damage to wiring leading into the residence on the property, and an electric fence around part of the property was damaged. |
