In addition, lightning struck the National Weather Service Doppler radar on Promontory Point, causing damage and temporarily putting the radar out of service. |

The lightning strike immediately disabled the radar, and it was out of service for almost 24 hours. Some wiring and two circuit boards had to be replaced. In addition, 16 panels of the radome were damaged and had to be replaced. |
