Episode narrativeepisode_narrativeThunderstorms moved into Iowa from the west and north as an MCS that developed to the west advanced into the state and weakened. Lightning struck a church in Marshall County shortly after sunrise. The 106-year-old Sacred Heart Catholic Church in St. Anthony was destroyed by a fire that was touched off by lighting about 0530 CST Friday. By midmorning the roof and much of the walls had collapsed. No injuries were reported. St. Anthony is located just northwest of Marshalltown. Seventy firefighters and 24 trucks from fire departments in Clemons, State Center, Zearing, Colo, Nevada, McCallsburg and Albion fought the blaze through late morning.
