In addition, a lightning strike caused damage at the Burlington Police Department. Otherwise, hot and humid conditions prevailed with highs in the upper 80s to upper 90s.
Event narrativeevent_narrativeLightning struck a tower on the north side on top of the Burlington Police Department building around 645 pm CDT August 10. The strike affected the communications center's dispatching capabilities, phone systems, radio-assisted dispatch, computer systems, and some computers. The Burlington Police Department also contributed to this report.
