Episode narrativeepisode_narrativeSevere thunderstorms caused considerable tree damage during the afternoon into the early evening of the 24th across the southern third of New Jersey and claimed the life of one woman and injured two other persons in Burlington County. About 130,000 Public Service Electric & Gas and 65,000 Atlantic City Electric customers lost power. The hardest hit counties with respect to power outages were Atlantic, Camden, Gloucester and Salem.
Event narrativeevent_narrativeLightning struck a building in a row of stores at the intersection of Main Street and Delilah Road in Pleasantville. It blew out an electric meter at one store. About 2,300 homes and businesses lost power in the city. Lightning strikes and wind also combined to cause about 1,500 homes and businesses to lose power in Brigantine and 1,200 in Absecon.
