Episode narrativeepisode_narrativeA short wave embedded in a fast zonal flow was traversing the southern states. A comparatively warm air mass, with respect to many previous winter events, was in place across the region as the associated cold front swept into the southeast states. A strong line of thunderstorms accompanied the front and moved into the Georgia during the pre-dawn hours. The thunderstorms brought considerable lightning, brief heavy rain, and some small hail. None of the thunderstorms reached severe limits.
Event narrativeevent_narrativeThe Beacon Newspaper of Johns Creek reported that lightning struck a gas line adjacent to a home on Hillgate Crossing near Abbotts Bridge Road. The home caught fire and sustained damage as a result.
