Episode narrativeepisode_narrativeThe upper atmospheric and surface pattern remained virtually unchanged across the southeastern U.S. A stationary front remained from the eastern Tennessee Valley into the Southern Plains. A negatively tilted upper trough persisted across the mid-south and southeast U.S. A warm, moist, unstable environment persisted across north and central Georgia. Saturated ground and additional rainfall led to stream, creek, and river flooding in parts of north and central Georgia. A few thunderstorms became severe and produced damaging downburst winds and marginal severe hail.
Event narrativeevent_narrativeThe Gwinnett Daily Post of Lawrenceville reported that lightning struck a home in the 900 block of Nature Trail. The home was completely destroyed from the resulting fire. Three residents of the home were displaced because of the loss. No injuries or deaths were reported.
