Scattered to numerous thunderstorms developed with daytime heating during the afternoon and evening. Several of these became severe and produced damaging downburst winds, hail, and frequent cloud-to-ground lightning.

This caused a power failure that resulted in leakage of a toxic chemical solution used to make latex adhesives. Plant employees contained the spill within a few minutes.
