Episode narrativeepisode_narrativeAn unusually strong upper-level trough was sweeping through the southeast on the 29th accompanied by an unusually strong cold front. Scattered to numerous thunderstorms developed in advance of the front in two waves, first across central Georgia during the afternoon, followed by another round across north Georgia during the late afternoon and evening. Damaging straight-line winds occurred with several of the storms, along with frequent cloud-to-ground lightning. Very little hail was reported.
Event narrativeevent_narrativeThe Henry County Emergency Management Director reported that lightning struck and set on a fire a home on Dorsey Road. In addition, there was also a small brush fire in the northwest part of the county also started by lightning.
