Episode narrativeepisode_narrativeA warm front and low pressure system over northern Kansas lifted northeast into southeast Nebraska and southwest Iowa as an unseasonably strong upper level low pressure system lifted from the Rockies into the northern plains. Severe storms developed over northeast Nebraska during the morning hours of June 5th and after a brief break in the severe weather, additional severe storms developed over southeast Nebraska and southwest Iowa by early evening. The thunderstorms formed into a bow echo as they moved into southwest Iowa and a bookend type vortex on the north end of the bow echo spun up 2 brief tornadoes with another tornado forming on the bow a bit farther east.
Event narrativeevent_narrativeLightning apparently struck a house causing a fire that totally destroyed it.
