Episode narrativeepisode_narrativeA cold front marching across the Northland acted as the catalyst for the development of severe thunderstorms. Storms were initially delayed due to a lingering stratus deck but once convective initiation took hold of the region, the strong ingredients in place lead to numerous severe storms across northeastern Minnesota that produced damaging winds and hail as large as 3 inches in diameter.
Event narrativeevent_narrativeA home on the 200 block of 5th Street South in Virginia was struck by lightning around 4:55AM CDT causing extensive damage. The home's electrical system was heavily damaged along with heavy damage to the exterior of the home. Firefighters were on scene for about 3 hours surveying the extent of the damage.
