| Episode narrativeepisode_narrative | Another active weather pattern returned to northern and central New Mexico after a prolonged break in the more widespread shower and thunderstorm activity during early July. Heavy rainfall impacted the Jemez and southern Sangre de Cristo Mountains where amounts between 1 and nearly 3 inches were reported from around Los Alamos to Gascon. Another area of heavy rainfall also impacted the east slopes of the Sandia Mountains. Strong winds and very heavy rainfall impacted the eastern plains as this activity rolled eastward off the high terrain. Severe outflow winds around Fort Sumner topped several rail cars off of a BNSF train. A flash flood along Taiban Creek prompted the closure of State Road 294. Several reports of self clouds were received around Clovis as these same storms rolled through the area. A very impressive 4.05 inches of rain fell near Tucumcari, however no reports of flooding were received. |
