episode_narrativeHeavy rain associated with Hurricane Irene fell across Sussex County Delaware from the afternoon of the 17th through the very early morning of the 18th. The hurricane itself passed well southeast of the state, about 225 miles offshore during the morning of the 18th. The heaviest rain fell in the southeast part of the county east of a Laurel to Lewes line. Storm totals ranged from around an inch along the Kent County border to nearly 4 inches around Selbyville near the Maryland border. Some poor drainage flooding occurred, but no serious damage or injuries were reported. Storm totals included 3.49 inches in Ocean City (MD), 2.49 inches in Salisbury (MD), and 2.34 inches in Georgetown.
