The statewide average monthly rainfall of 9.39 inches was the second wettest September on record since 1895. County weighted monthly rainfall amounts were in double digits from Mercer and Middlesex Counties northward. On a county weighted average September monthly rainfall totals ranged from 7.1 inches in Cape May County to 12.5 inches in Somerset County and 14.1 inches in Passaic County. New all-time monthly precipitation records were set at both the nearby Lehigh Valley (11.57 inches) and Philadelphia (13.07 inches) International Airports. The 13.07 inches of rain also established a new all-time monthly precipitation record for Philadelphia. At the Atlantic City International Airport, the monthly rainfall total of 4.92 inches was the seventh wettest September on record. |
