episode_narrativeCourtesy of Hurricane Floyd, September 1999 went down as one of the wettest Septembers on record in Pennsylvania. The statewide average monthly rainfall 6.20 inches was the fifth wettest September on record since 1895. Monthly rainfall amounts due to the closer proximity to Floyd were higher in Eastern Pennsylvania and were all in double digits. On a county weighted average September monthly rainfall totals ranged from 10.6 inches in Lehigh County to 13.3 inches in Chester County. New all-time monthly precipitation records were set at both the Lehigh Valley (11.57 inches) and Philadelphia (13.07 inches) International Airports. The 13.07 inches of rain also established a new all-time monthly precipitation record for Philadelphia.
