| episode_narrative | In addition to the frequent lightning, the thunderstorms that rumbled through Central New Jersey brought heavy rain with them, most of which fell within two hours. Some flash flooding of small streams occurred in Northwest Burlington County. Heavy, albeit lighter, rain though fell throughout the rest of the county, most of Ocean County and the southwestern neck of Monmouth County. Storm totals averaged between one and four inches. The highest amounts fell in the Pine Barrens. This was the heaviest and most widespread rain event in the area since May 24th and started to chip away at the drought. Heavy rain fell mainly between 1 a.m. and 4 a.m. EDT on the 14th and exited the Ocean County coast around 530 a.m. EDT. The rain caused the usual poor drainage flooding problems. Storm totals included 3.90 inches in Atsion (Burlington County), 3.20 inches in Lakehurst (Ocean County), 2.96 inches in Willingboro (Burlington County), 2.89 inches in Mount Holly (Burlington County), 2.34 inches in Harvey Cedars (Ocean County) and 1.41 inches in Mount Laurel (Burlington County). |
