| episode_narrative | In addition to the frequent lightning, the thunderstorms that rumbled through the Raritan Valley around midnight EDT on the 14th brought heavy rain with them, most of which fell within two hours. Storm totals ranged from one to three inches with the highest amounts in southern sections of Hunterdon, Somerset and Middlesex Counties. This was the heaviest and most widespread rain event in the area since May 24th and started to chip away at the drought. Heavy rain spread into the Raritan Valley and reached Hunterdon County first around 11 p.m. EDT on the 13th and exited southern Middlesex County by 3 a.m. EDT on the 14th. The rain caused the usual poor drainage flooding problems. Storm totals included 3.12 inches in Lambertville (Hunterdon County), 2.60 inches in Hillsborough (Somerset County), 2.07 inches in Belle Mead (Somerset County), 2.03 inches in Neshanic (Somerset County), 2.01 inches in Wertsville (Hunterdon County), 1.68 inches in White House Station (Hunterdon County), 1.66 inches in Flemington (Hunterdon County), 1.64 inches in Somerville (Somerset County), 1.61 inches in New Brunswick (Middlesex County) and 1.27 inches in Watchung (Somerset County). |
