| episode_narrative | In addition to the frequent lightning and isolated occurrences of severe weather, the thunderstorms that rumbled through Northwest New Jersey brought heavy rain with them, most of which fell within one hour. Storm totals averaged around one inch. This was the heaviest and most widespread rain event in the area since May 24th and started to chip away at the drought. Heavy rain fell mainly between 1030 p.m. and Midnight EDT. The rain caused the usual poor drainage flooding problems. Storm totals included 1.95 inches in Berkshire Valley (Morris County), 1.68 inches in Phillipsburg (Warren County), 1.38 inches in Long Valley (Morris County), 1.25 inches in Belvidere (Warren County), 1.16 inches in Wantage (Sussex County), 1.08 inches in Lincoln Park (Morris County) and 1.00 inch in Sussex (Sussex County). |
