episode_narrativeIn addition to the severe weather and lightning, the thunderstorms that rumbled through the Poconos brought heavy rain with them as storm totals exceeded 1.5 inches in many places. This was the most widespread rain event in the area since May 23rd and 24th and started to chip away at the drought. Heavy rain fell mainly between 8 p.m. and 11p.m. EDT and caused the usual poor drainage flooding problems. In Albrightsville (Carbon County) an inch of rain fell within 15 minutes. In Stroudsburg, 1.40 inches of rain fell within 30 minutes. Storm totals included 2.30 inches in Long Pond (Monroe County), 2.28 inches in Blakeslee (Monroe County), 1.88 inches in Tobyhanna (Monroe County), 1.58 inches in Lehighton (Carbon County) and 1.34 inches at Beltzville Lake (Carbon County).
