| Episode narrativeepisode_narrative | A strong upper level disturbance combined with a strengthening low level jet over eastern New Mexico generated numerous strong to severe thunderstorms across the plains during the late evening hours of the 22nd into the morning of the 23rd. A couple severe storms produced 60 mph wind gusts in De Baca County and half dollar size hail in Roosevelt County. An extensive band of thunderstorms impacted the area from northern Chaves County northeastward into De Baca and Quay counties. Training storm cells produced torrential rainfall and flash flooding in portions of the area. The storms dropped anywhere from 1 inch to nearly 5 inches of rainfall over the east central plains, with the heaviest totals falling in De Baca, Quay, and Curry counties. The heavy rainfall led to 3 reported road closures while causing Yeso Creek near Fort Sumner to overflow its banks. No other significant damages were reported. |
| Event narrativeevent_narrative | Thunderstorms produced 3.5 inches of rainfall in less than 24 hours near Tolar. No official reports of flash flooding were received. |
