event_narrativeA low pressure area, moving slowly north along the mid Atlantic coast, produced a period of steady to heavy rain across eastern New York. Since there had been an extended dry period prior to the rain, oil built up on many road surfaces. The combination of oil buildup, as well as falling leaves, produced very slick road surfaces leading to numerous vehicle accidents across northern Dutchess County. While most of the vehicular accidents were minor, one in Clintondale resulted in several people being injured.
