Two inches of rain that spread over the Rahway River Basin in Northern New Jersey sent the Rahway River in Springfield to the top of its' banks. In Springfield, the river rose to flood stage (5.5 feet) before cresting. There was no river flooding reported. Here are selected rainfall amounts:For Union County: 2.02 inches at Plainfield and 1.92 inches at Scotch Plains. For Hudson County: 1.50 inches at Harrison.
