| Episode narrativeepisode_narrative | An inverted trough that brought freezing rain in the morning acted as a conduit to bring heavy rain into the region from the mid morning into the mid afternoon of the 18th. The rain itself ended during the early evening on the 18th. Event precipitation totals averaged close to two inches and caused considerable poor drainage flooding as well as flooding along some smaller creeks and rivers mainly in the central third of New Jersey. The most reported flooding occurred in Somerset County where flooding persisted into the 20th. Most other creek and small river flooding ended by late in the evening on the 18th. Once the flooding subsided, sub freezing temperatures caused black ice problems in locations where leftover water ponded and did not drain. |
