Tropical Storm Ernesto made landfall on the eastern coast of Brunswick County NC near 10:30 pm EST.The South Carolina coast was for the most part spared from tropical storm Ernesto, as the strong winds occurred in North Carolina. Winds did not reach tropical storm strength on the SC coast, with the strongest sustained winds of 35 mph recorded at Myrtle Beach Airport. The main impact in South Carolina was rain, with rainfall totals ranging from just under two inches at Gallivants Ferry, to over seven inches with ponding on roadways at North Myrtle Beach. There were isolated power outages during the storm.
