| Event narrativeevent_narrative | 1.3 inches of rain in less than an hour caused a storm drain to become clogged. Water backed up from the clogged drain flooding interstate 70 in the western part of Topeka. Due to the ponded water, traffic was down to one lane eastbound and one lane westbound for several hours. Two pumps brought in by the city of Topeka and a fire engine from the Topeka Fire Department were used to remove about 75000 to 85000 gallons of water. The heavy rains caused at least one rollover accident. It is unknown whether this accident produced any indirect injuries. |
